Study #4: "The Oasis" is a project undertaken by the Studio City Beautification
Association. Look for it on the south side of Ventura Boulevard, just across the street from Marshall's.
First we had to clear
the entire site - a massive job - it was completely overgrown with weeds and overtaken with ivy. The Date
palms had never been trimmed in their lives. A decomposed granite path has laid for safer pedestrian passage and drought tolerant, mostly
California native, plants are featured on this hillside. Drip irrigation was installed. Tons of stone were
brought in to lay a dry creek bed as well as a decorative border along one edge of the path. Extra added touches are the benches and the Mutt Mitt doggie bag dispensers. All the plants are growing beautifully and we just
did a second planting this fall 2010, so look for it to be even more lush and colorful in the spring.
